The Director of Construction is responsible for providing senior leadership and operational oversight across all phases of residential construction projects, from pre-construction through to closeout and warranty. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Description de poste

  • Leading and mentoring Project Managers, Superintendents, and procurement teams to ensure strong project delivery and team performance.
  • Overseeing budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and contract execution while managing financial risks and cost controls.
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and construction progress to identify risks, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with project goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with Ontario Building Code, safety regulations, permits, and quality standards.
  • Driving schedule performance through milestone tracking, critical path management, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships including consultants, contractors, municipalities, and internal leadership.
  • Supporting project closeout, occupancy readiness, and warranty programs to ensure successful delivery and customer satisfaction.

Le candidat idéal

A successful Director of Construction should have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in construction, including senior project management or leadership roles.
  • Strong experience in high-density residential construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, contracts, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Solid understanding of Ontario Building Code and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership capability managing cross-functional teams including PMs, site teams, and consultants.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with construction software tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
  • Relevant post-secondary education; professional designations (PMP, P.Eng., Gold Seal, CET) are considered an asset.
