Our client is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee the successful execution of a large-scale assisted living facility construction project in Halifax while they complete land acquisition for an upcoming project in the GTA. The role is responsible for managing site operations, safety, scheduling, subcontractors, and project delivery while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders. Relocation to Halifax is required for 1+ year.

This role uses AI-assisted tools to support initial screening. All assessments and decisions are made by a human reviewer.

Job Description

  • Manage all on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Ensure project schedules are maintained and milestones are achieved.
  • Lead site safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct daily site meetings and coordinate work activities.
  • Monitor project quality and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
  • Maintain site documentation, including daily reports, inspections, and deficiency logs.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and site logistics.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues to minimize project delays.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Support project budgeting efforts by monitoring labour productivity and site resources.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Site Superintendent should have:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent on assisted living, LTC, and residential new build projects.
  • Proven experience managing ground-up construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Current Working at Heights certification.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to commute to the project site.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
