Senior Superintendent - Electrical/IT InstallationCore mandate

The Site Supervisor is accountable for coordinating work and resources, supervising installation execution, verifying compliance with specifications, planning pre-acceptance testing, supporting commissioning, keeping documentation current, and reporting technical issues to the responsible Customer project manager. The role also supports subcontractor's obligations to maintain schedule discipline, site cleanliness, documentation quality, and compliance with Customer site conduct, access control, and occupational health and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily installation activities, labour, tools, access, and sequencing for the active IT infrastructure scope.
  • Be continuously present on site on every workday from first material delivery onward.
  • Participate in all regular project meetings, important coordination meetings, and implementation events such as changes and network migrations, including outside normal working hours where required.
  • Submit all blueprints, layouts, and installation-related documents for Customer approval before installation begins.
  • Inspect and verify installations against attached specifications, Customer standards, approved technological rules, and the Local Wiring Design Guide.
  • Ensure no installation deviations are implemented unless agreed to by the responsible Customer department in writing.
  • Execute customer-specific tests and coordinate the execution and documentation of function tests as required by the project documents.
  • Plan and schedule intermediate, pre-acceptance, and final acceptance test activities in coordination with Customer.
  • Support commissioning activities, including coordination of dates, prior notifications to affected departments, and immediate updating of network documentation.
  • Adapt all provided documents and keep documentation current throughout planning, installation, confirmation of completed work, quality checks, and acceptance testing.
  • Report all technical problems, installation constraints, discrepancies, and non-executable work in writing to the responsible Customer project manager.
  • Issue immediate notice of delay to Customer when interference by Customer or other contractors affects progress.
  • Monitor material administration, delivery flow, and installation readiness in coordination with the Project Manager and other project team members.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean and residual materials and packaging are removed and disposed of properly as part of the contracted scope.
  • Ensure opening and closing of ceilings, floors, ducts, and cable routes, and securing of opened cable ducts with proper safety barricades, are completed where included in the work scope.

The Successful Applicant

Senior Superintendent - Electrical/IT InstallationRequired qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience supervising on-site installation work for industrial, plant, or mission-critical IT / telecom infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of construction site coordination, installation quality control, commissioning support, and documentation control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work in live or restricted operating environments without disrupting business or production operations.
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements applicable to construction and industrial installations in Ontario, with the ability to support an OHS specialist function in the field.
  • Ability to read and coordinate blueprints, layouts, specifications, and installation drawings and to obtain approvals before execution.
  • Experience participating in pre-acceptance testing, commissioning, migrations, and final handover activities.
  • Ability to work weekends, public holidays, late shifts, or night shifts when required by installation windows or migration activities.
  • Strong written reporting discipline, including email notification of absences, delays, technical issues, and field changes.



Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with structured cabling, active network infrastructure, MDF/IDF environments, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, network management systems, and related IT infrastructure installation workflows.
  • Familiarity with TCM Command, Microsoft Visio-based network documentation, and controlled handover environments.
  • Experience coordinating direct subcontractors in a general contractor environment under strict client standards.
  • Training or certification related to occupational health and safety, site supervision, access control, lockout or safe work planning, or industrial construction safety.
