As part of its continued procurement transformation journey, the company is recruiting a Buyer to manage direct material sourcing activities across North America. This role combines strategic procurement expertise with hands-on execution, supporting supplier performance, cost optimization, supply continuity, and the evolution of procurement processes and systems.

This role uses AI-assisted tools to support initial screening. All assessments and decisions are made by a human reviewer.

Job Description

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Materials, Logistics, Finance, and cross-functional business teams, this position will play a key role in strengthening sourcing strategies and enhancing procurement effectiveness across a multi-site manufacturing environment.

  • Execute sourcing strategies for assigned direct material categories across North America, ensuring alignment with business objectives, market conditions, cost competitiveness, and supply chain requirements.
  • Lead supplier sourcing activities for new programs, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost breakdown analysis, total cost of ownership assessments, and sourcing recommendations.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, commercial agreements, and cost reduction initiatives while ensuring supplier performance, quality, and long-term value creation.
  • Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Materials, and Logistics teams to support new product launches, engineering changes, supplier transitions, and ongoing production requirements.
  • Drive annual cost improvement initiatives through negotiations, supplier productivity programs, value analysis/value engineering, resourcing strategies, and long-term supplier agreements.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to capacity constraints, supplier dependencies, geopolitical factors, tariffs, and cost fluctuations while maintaining business continuity.
  • Support procurement digital transformation initiatives by improving purchasing processes, implementing analytics tools, enhancing data visibility, and promoting standardized workflows across the organization.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, BA, supply chain or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of progressive procurement experience within an automotive, manufacturing, or complex industrial environment, ideally supporting OEM, Tier 1, or Tier 2 suppliers.
  • Mandatory to have a strong understanding of direct materials procurement, manufacturing processes, supplier cost structures, and commercial negotiation strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead sourcing events, analyze supplier quotations, negotiate contracts, and deliver measurable cost savings in a competitive environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial capabilities with experience leveraging data to support decision-making, supplier evaluations, and procurement strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and procurement technologies, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
