Our Client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of ICI construction projects ranging in value FROM $10 Million to $80 Million.

This role uses AI-assisted tools to support initial screening. All assessments and decisions are made by a human reviewer.

Job Description

Assistant Project Manager - ICI - OttawaWorking closely with other Project Managers, Site Superintendents, consultants, subcontractors, and clients, the APM will play a key role in maintaining project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and documentation.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a construction professional looking to grow their project management career while contributing to landmark projects across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

This position is designed for growth into a full Project Manager within a relatively short space of time, (dependant upon satisfactory performance).Key Responsibilities:Project Management & Coordination

  • Assist Project Managers in all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Coordinate project activities between owners, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, and change requests.
  • Track project milestones and support schedule management activities.



Cost & Financial Management

  • Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Review invoices, progress claims, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Support the administration of change orders and project cost reporting.
  • Help identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality objectives.



Procurement & Contract Administration

  • Assist in tendering and procurement activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and supplier scopes of work.
  • Support contract administration and ensure documentation compliance.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and deliverables.



Project Controls & Reporting

  • Maintain project logs for RFIs, submittals, deficiencies, change orders, and site instructions.
  • Generate regular project status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project scheduling and look-ahead planning processes.
  • Ensure project records are accurate, organized, and up to date.



Client & Stakeholder Support

  • Develop positive working relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and project presentations.

The Successful Applicant

Assistant Project Manager - ICI - Ottawa Key Skills & Experience: Education

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field.



Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial, institutional, or industrial construction.
  • Experience supporting construction management, general contracting, or design-build projects is an asset.
  • Project Management and/or Project Co-ordination experience with projects valued at $10 Million+



Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with project management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project controls.
