Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work;
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and leadership to project team members and construction leadership in areas of execution strategy, planning, procurement, safety, cost control, quality and scheduling
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for work; determine and oversee project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare, administer, and submit construction project budget estimates, construction schedules, and project timelines, ensuring profitability targets are achieved for all projects;
  • Training and mentoring project team members to help assist them in developing their skills in construction management;
  • Support estimating / scheduling activities throughout bid lifecycle including analyzing tender scope, specifications and drawings and contribute to developing competitive execution strategies.
  • Coordinate the transfer of baseline plans to the project execution team once the job is won and moves to execution.
  • Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Manage and direct project teams and construction leadership by providing communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives;
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for work; determine and oversee project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Utilize knowledge of basic engineering fundamentals and construction project management practices to track and budget progress with project milestones
  • Maintain on-going communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and Ingenuity's needs
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule
  • Work with project team and construction leadership to identify and resolve technical problem; and review specifications in order to provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Monitor earned value performance, and forecasts and work collaboratively with the construction leadership to implement changes to improve project performance.
  • Advance the development of the company's project management practices and procedures. Implement, assist and identify areas for improvement.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • 5-7 years experience in a construction management role
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering, construction management or similar field
  • Experience overseeing Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) projects in a well structured and highly professional construction company
  • Must have experience in commercial/interior construction projects.
  • Experience leading complex projects, including ownership of operations, project administration, client relations and all other scopes relative to large construction projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work with, relate with, and collaborate with internal and external customers as well as members of the extended team;
  • Experience with leading, supporting, and managing a skilled project team and consultants, including providing regular feedback on performance;
  • Proven experience evaluating construction projects, preparing project budgets and schedules, and advising senior management on the current status of projects;
  • Excellent knowledge of construction trades and ability to understand drawings and specifications;
  • Skilled with the use of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and MS Project;
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic
