We're working with a well-established construction group that's looking to bring a Payroll & Benefits Administrator onto their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical payroll knowledge and a detail-oriented mindset who enjoys being a key support across both HR and Finance.

Job Description

  • Process weekly payroll across salaried and hourly teams, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Handle deductions for taxes, benefits, pensions, and garnishments
  • Administer employee benefits and ensure proper remittance and documentation
  • Maintain accurate employee records including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance to resolve payroll-related questions and discrepancies
  • Prepare ROEs, T4s, year-end reports, and ensure compliance with all payroll legislation
  • Support system improvements, data audits, and payroll software enhancements
  • Identify areas for process improvement to drive efficiency and accuracy

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of payroll and benefits experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced industry
  • PCP certification preferred (or working toward it)
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and provincial compliance standards
  • Solid experience working in multi-division or unionized payroll environments (asset)
  • Proficiency in payroll software; experience with Vista by Viewpoint is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data management)
  • Highly organized, discreet, and accurate-especially with confidential data
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration
