This role will oversee all financial functions-including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, capital planning, and investor relations-while building strong financial systems and structures that support a scaling construction development environment.The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, real estate development, or related project‑based industries, and thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & PlanningPartner with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies that align with organizational goals.Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across all business units.Provide financial insights and recommendations to guide decision-making on land acquisitions, new developments, partnerships, and capital investments.Drive financial modelling for development proformas, project feasibility, and ROI analysis.Financial Operations ManagementOversee day-to-day accounting, cash flow management, payroll, and financial reporting.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Build and enhance internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.Implement scalable systems and tools to support company growth.Capital & Funding ManagementManage debt financing, banking relationships, and capital structure.Lead fundraising efforts including construction financing, development loans, and equity partnerships.Optimize liquidity and capital allocation across multiple active projects.Risk Management & ComplianceOversee all financial, contractual, and regulatory risk management processes.Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, CRA requirements, and provincial regulations.Develop strategies for cost control, margin improvement, and risk mitigation.Team LeadershipLead and mentor a growing finance and accounting team.Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations to ensure alignment between financial and project performance.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class otherwise protected under applicable human rights legislation.
