Job Description

Financial Reporting and Analysis

Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards in financial reporting
Develop and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights into the company's financial performance and recommendations for improvement
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management from time to time

Financial Planning and Budgeting
Lead the development and implementation of the company's annual budgeting process
Collaborate with department heads to develop comprehensive operating and capital expenditure budgets
Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis to senior management
Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, property acquisitions, and development projects
Governing taxes and managing Net Worth Statements
Perform additional duties as assigned by management from time to time

Internal Controls and Risk Management
Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Implement systems and processes to safeguard company assets and minimize fraud risks
Identify and mitigate financial risks by implementing appropriate controls and procedures
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and compliance with regulatory
Maintaining corporate cash flow and corporate budget
Perform additional duties as assigned by management from time to time

Team Leadership and Development
Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, including providing mentorship, training, and guidance
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability
Set performance targets and conduct regular performance evaluations of the finance team
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in real estate accounting and finance
Ability to give clear direction and provide oversight of applicable departments (finance & accounting), as well as liaison for project accounting

The Successful Applicant

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of real estate accounting principles, including cost accounting, lease accounting, and revenue recognition
  • Strong technical skills in financial analysis, financial modeling, and budgeting
  • Proficiency in financial systems and software, including Yardi and Microsoft Excel
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to real estate entities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
